Wordcraft History

Founded in 1978, Wordcraft developed and produced one of the world’s first mass market word processors for the Commodore PET shortly followed by IBM compatible PCs.

Over the years development has progressively moved into document management solutions including fax, scan, print and ocr for Windows and Linux environments. Our latest product P3fax is aimed at simplifying and managing document workflow in a small to medium sized office including integration for iPhone users.

Although Wordcraft is primarily a software development company, development ideas can go beyond the usual path! Have a look at www.ocrnow.com – this is a commercial service (available on-line) for converting paper documents into editable electronic files. This has been further developed to support other devices such as iPhone and Blackberry.

Wordcraft has also had the opportunity to work on development projects for the Education sector, through partnership with a leading Derbyshire primary school we have recently launched AdKlass, a pupil assessment and reporting tool which also incorporates the Key Skills statements from Focus Education.

Most recently we have been involved with the Takeaway/Fast Food sector and have developed TouchAway, an integrated touch screen and online ordering system including web design and development plus iPhone apps. A well known takeaway chain in Chaddesden, Derby were desperate to process orders quicker as they were losing custom. Since TouchAway was installed they are now processing 30% more orders per week which has resulted in an extension of their kitchen and assembly area.
