Upgrading P3fax to P3fax V2

The process to upgrade an existing installation of Unimessage P3fax V1 to Unimessage P3fax V2 is simple and straightforward, but before you do so please note:

  • At present Unimessage P3fax V2 can only be installed in English.
After installation you can select to run Unimessage P3fax V2 in any of the other 17 languages supported by Unimessage P3fax V1 but, at time of writing:
    • Only Swedish and Dutch screen messages are fully translated, in other languages you will see some screen messages in English.
    • Only English help text is available.
  • Unimessage P3fax V2 does NOT support Internet Explorer 6 or earlier – you must use at least IE7 (IE8 recommended) or another equivalent web-browser (e.g. Firefox or Chrome) on all the computers from which you will wish to access P3fax V2.

Upgrading the P3fax V1 Server PC

To upgrade your Unimessage P3fax V1 installation:

  1. Download the Unimessage P3fax V2 installer.
  2. Ensure that no-one is composing or sending messages using Unimessage P3fax V1 so that they do not lose their work when you upgrade the server.
  3. Run the downloaded Unimessage P3fax V2 installer on the Windows PC acting as your Unimessage P3 server.
During the installation process most users can select a “Typical” style installation and accept the default options by simply clicking “Next” repeatedly.
You will be asked if you wish to use a separate LDAP server for your P3fax V2 Shared Contacts rather than continue to use the LDAP server provided with P3fax V1 – if in doubt, select “No” to continue as with P3fax V1.
  4. At the conclusion of the installation after (if requested) Windows is restarted your P3 server PC will be fully updated.
